Vallone’s resident spirits specialist Joe Hausner makes his Holiday Julep with Maker’s Mark “Cask Strength” Bourbon and homemade simple syrup.
One of the great things about the cocktail is the way the mint leaves “tickle” the olfactory when you take a sip. The rich aroma of the herb enhances the flavors of the Bourbon and the simple syrup.
And the fresh fruit — cherries and grapes — are the perfect complement to the toasty, oaky flavors of the Bourbon.
